I've tried this before, and it worked. Here's what happened:
It was a three on two 1 Hit Lives battle, my side having two people, and we played around my neighbourhood. My teammate and I hid in my neighbour's backyard (no-one lived there, so we assumed it was alright). The other team split up to look for us, while we were watching from afar. Everytime we thought they were coming, we stayed low (the grass was about knee-high). Finally, someone on the other team found us after 10 minutes of searching. We exchanged shots, and my side had more, so we were winning. He then retreated, and we cautiously followed. We ambushed him at his house, though he said the war was over because his teammates left, so we won.The tactic isn't the most exciting, but it works against some people. Find a good hiding place, and stay there for a while. Some people might leave. If they do, then you have the numbers advantage. Team up on the remaining opponents and take them out one-by one.
The tactic could also be used to attack small search parties should your opponents decide to split up.
